Our serving sizes are based on Australian industry standards and all our cakes are a standard height of 5 inches tall unless otherwise requested. A coffee sized serving is 1 inch x 1 inch and a dessert serving is 1 inch x 2 inches.
Cake Tasting Consultations
We run cake tasting appointments at various times throughout the year for wedding cake customers. Please contact us to register your interest in the next round of tasting appointments. A consultation with three takeaway cake samples is $50. Three takeaway cake samples without a consultation is $25. The cost of your cake samples and consultation will be deducted from your wedding cake invoice if you book in with us.
Please feel free to bring along anything that can help demonstrate the theme and style of your wedding. Your invitations, fabric/colour swatches, inspiration boards, your centrepiece designs, floral decorations and images of cakes you love will all assist in designing a cake that matches your event and personality perfectly.
When To Order Your Cake
For wedding cakes and large celebration cakes we like the order to be placed at least six months before the event date. Some weeks can book out far in advance so as soon as you have some design elements sorted for your wedding we can commence work on your cake.
For all other cakes at least three months is ideal to allow time to organise decorations and supplies.
On some occasions we may be able to accommodate last minute orders but this will be dependent on availabilty.
For wedding cakes or large celebration cakes you can cancel your order any time up to three months before the delivery/pickup date. Any cancellations after this time will not be eligible for a refund of the booking deposit.*
For smaller cake orders you can cancel your order up to one month before the delivery/pickup date. Any cancellations after this time will not be eligible for a refund of the booking deposit.*
* We will excercise discretion regarding cancellations in circumstances where the cancellation is a result of unavoidable events.
Changes To Your Order
Changes to orders are accepted up to fourteen days before the event date, however please note that some elements, such as sugar decorations, may have been completed months before your cake order is due and may not be able to be changed.
Special Dietary Requirements
We do cater for gluten free and dairy free customers. Details of the flavours available as gluten free and dairy free options are detailed on our cake flavours page along with relevant disclaimers.
Deliver and Pick Up
All wedding cakes and mulit-tier celebration cakes will be delivered to your venue and set-up. The cost of this will be included in your initial quote.
Pickup is available for single tier cakes* or an additional fee of $10 is charged if you want it delivered (Mackay local region only - additional delivery charges are applicable for other areas)
*We do not advise picking up a multi-tier cake as they are fragile and we prefer to deliver them to ensure they arrive intact.
Caring For Your Cake
We supply detailed information sheets on how to care for your cake, how it is constructed (multi-tier cakes) and how to cut the cake to obtain the correct servings.
Dummy and Kitchen Cakes
For most weddings, it's just as easy for all your servings to be included in the main cake. Fake cakes (foam) can be used if you love the idea of a really large cake, but only have a small guest list. Due to most of the cost of a cake being in the decorating, a foam cake will be only marginally lower in cost when compared to an actual cake.
When considering whether to go for a small cake plus kitchen cake, keep in mind the scale of the wedding and the visual impact you would like from the wedding cake. Although there may be cost savings with a kitchen cake, be aware that a small cake may look out of place if you are planning a large wedding.
Keeping Top Tier for Anniversary
Preserving the top tier of your wedding cake and eating it a year later is known as an omen for good luck. You'll get to celebrate your first anniversary together by reliving one of the most special moments you've shared. This wedding tradition is one that has been around for ages, and it is important you take the proper steps if you are going to preserve your wedding cake so that it is safe to eat a whole year later.
You will need to advise your venue / caterer that you wish to do so and organise for the proper steps to be taken to wrap it properly so it can be frozen. It is also important to be aware that some types of cakes freeze better than others.
Another option available to you, if you don't want the hassle of freezing your cake on your wedding night, is to order a replica or similar cake to be enjoyed fresh on your anniversary celebration.
